Mirror, Mirror...

Why do we look at ourselves so much? It's fascinating how we're naturally inclined to gaze into a mirror as though it were a portal into the depths of our souls. It's where we see a boundary between the positive and negative; mirrors are a window into our inner contradictions.

The mirror reflects what we wish to see but also unveils what we'd rather not acknowledge. It's a mystical-looking glass that exposes both the good and evil sides of our nature, and it's our choice which to embrace.

On some days, we stand before the mirror with a smile, recognizing the sparkle of our good side. We appreciate the radiant cheeks of a heart in love, the self-assuredness of a determined individual, and the wisdom etched into the lines around our eyes, the reminders of our past joys. The mirror becomes a portal of hope, a reflection of the goodness we've nurtured within.

But there are also those days when we confront the shadowy aspects when we see the unruliness of our life, our hair, the uncertainty in our eyes, and the fleeting doubts that cross our minds. On those occasions, we face the mirror of our own internal strife, the duality of our being. The darker, or perhaps just the less virtuous, aspects are equally present. It reminds us that no one is purely good or purely evil and that we are exquisitely intricate beings, forever swinging between the two.

There's a blurry line between good and evil; we hold that mirror in high regard. It is our confidant, our therapist, and our reality check. It reminds us that we are part dreamer, pragmatist, wild child, and romantic, all entwined into one complex whole.

As I walk past any reflective surface, I can't help but wonder, does the mirror reveal our dual nature, or do we project it onto that reflective canvas? Perhaps it's a fusion of both. The moment when good and evil merge and coexist like the colors of a sunset, that mirror becomes our narrator, unveiling the stories of our human existence—one reflection at a time.
