I’ve noticed there exists a striking resemblance between life's twists and turns and the opening and closing of elevator doors. You see, life and elevators have a knack for dramatic entrances and exits. Not every door that opens is the right door for us. And sometimes, the best thing we can do is allow the door to close and move on.
You've been there; you dash towards the elevator, your heels clicking like a pair of castanets, just as those doors stage their great escape. You panic, thinking, "Coño, I'm going to miss my ride!" But lo and behold, when you least expect it, they gracefully slide back open, welcoming you with open arms. Could be luck; could be someone nice enough to help you out. Life has a knack for serving up second chances when you least expect it.
And then there are those moments when you're riding high in that elevator, feeling on top of the world, like when stars align; your cafécito has the perfect amount of espumita, and everything's going your way, and suddenly, without a hint of warning, the elevator grinds to a halt, and the doors remain stubbornly shut. You're trapped in what now feels like a sardine can. It's as if life is teasing you, saying, "Hold on, my love, it's not all sunshine, cafécito, and dancing."
Just when you're about to push that emergency button and break into a conga line of despair, the doors miraculously open, setting you free once more. Life enjoys keeping us on our toes, much like the unpredictable weather in Miami during hurricane season.
So, what can we learn from these elevator escapades? Well, it's simple. Life is full of surprises, sometimes vibrant and full of flavor. You may think you're headed up to the penthouse but unexpectedly stop on the ground floor. Embrace the twists and turns, for they're what make life as delicious as a plate of picadillo served with rice and sweet plantains.
So, the next time you find yourself in an elevator, remember that life is a lot like those opening and closing doors. Relish the journey, savor the moments, shed a tear, dance, forgive, and always keep your sense of humor because that's what makes it all worthwhile. After all, each of us is simply striving to reach our personal penthouse in the dance of existence. Keep it fabulous, my loves! Until next time.
